Hey guys, this is my interview with Racheal from this December. She was “helping” me with the research, but it seems like it caused me to lose our only lead. She is definitely hiding something.

Audio Transcript

D: Hey. Thank you for meeting me like this. I really think it is cool that someone like you follows my blog…. Sorry, I’ll get started. Rachael is a forensic scientist at the University of Miskatonic. She teaches as an assistant professor, forrr?

R: Four years now.

D: Four years, and she wants to investigate this with me, us, which is super cool.

R: Well. It is important that someone find out what this is. I really wish that you had contacted the police instead of using the entire internet.

D: Well, it got me, you, didn’t it?

R: And for the record, I only helped because you agreed to contact the PROPER author after we are done here.

D: *sighs, and you can hear him adjusting the way he is sitting* Okay, I get it. I know I could have done some things better b-

R: Yes, you could have. Nevertheless, here is what I have found out: The letter, as you know, has faded past the point of legibility with eyes alone. The ink that marked these “pages” is made out of iron gall, which is consistent with inks from 1800 - 1900, roughly.

D: So it is over a hundred years old?

R: Possibly. It is possible that someone used the ink a long time later to write this.

D: So it is a fake?

R: I am not saying anything. The ink is not the interesting part. It could be faked; it could have been written a hundred years ago, like you want it to be, or maybe it is only 50 years old, and someone found an old bottle of ink and quickly wrote what they could.

D: Quickly, what makes you say that.

R: Uh. *deep breathe out* the hand writing. It started nearly in scribbles and became more consistent, but as they kept writing, the penmanship got worse because they were trying to finish before getting caught.

D: Get caught? I am sorry, what? Were you able to actually read it?

R: Most of it, but not the parts that reveal anything we don’t already know. I was able to use a solvent that reacts with iron to make the pages more readable, but not by much.

D: What else were you able to find out?

R: Their name, William Osborne, and that they were 12 years old. *D mutters inaudibly* As I said, he was getting chased by something that did not seem to make sense.

D: By what?

R: It doesn’t matter. Either he was sick, or a sick man was hunting the kid through the woods. Either way, the result is the same.

D: Can I see the pages again?

R: No. I had to destroy them in order to learn anything from it. The pages were so worn out that I had no choice.

D: Did you take pictures?

R: No.

D: I don’t believe you.
R: And I don’t care if you do. I held up my part of the deal, now it is time you leave and call the police.

D: What are you going to tell the cops when they come here?

R: The same thing I just told you.

Interview Reflection 12/1208

So Rachael is undeniably fishy. Once the cops arrived, nearly five minutes later, far too soon for it to have been from my call. And that is not even the worst of it. Their uniforms said ████ police, which means that they are from the collapsing city where I found the ̵̧̧̼̦͇͍̖͙̣̺͉͙͓̓̅͌͐̕̕͝ǝ̵̲͚̮̯͙̪̹̍̈́̇́̃̽̾͆̓̕͝ͅn̴̛̰͍̹͖̰̫̬̬̔̽͑͒̈́̓͑͑͑͘͝͝ʇ̶̗̤̻̻̎̑̏͛͋̿͐͂͑͆̒͋̕ɐ̸͉̱͒̑̂̔̋͛͂́̉̔̀̄͊͘̚ʇ̵̢̢̥̦̣̖̠̞̇̈́̑̈́̚͝͝s. Rachael told them about the recording and the fuckers took it for evidence. The transcript above is not really one, but I swear it is at least really close to everything that happened. They seemed like her attack dogs, so this is the best I can do about that meeting.

That is not the worst part. I looked more into our “Assistant Professor,” and while she does teach at that university, there are NO RECORDS from before. Absolutely nothing. I was so desperate I even hired a private investigator, but I got scammed because he never got back to me. So, it seems like I am going to have to find out more on my own. Wish me luck, guys. I am going to uncover whatever happened in that cabin and what the heck is going on with this Rachael chick.
